My Day with the Make A Wish Truck Convoy
I wanted to wish all the moms out there a very Happy Mother's Day! Today I took a break from my wedding planning job to volunteer at the annual Make A Wish truck convoy in Lancaster, PA. My mom and I have been doing it every year for over 17 years now! It has become our annual Mother's Day tradition.
I was interviewed by a local newspaper reporter about the volunteering that we do. You can read the full article here. One question the reporter asked was "why do you spend Mother's Day volunteering instead of getting pampered?" I had actually never thought of it that way before. (Granted, I've only been a mom for three years...but still!) I remember when my mom first got me into it with her, back when I was a teenager. I grumbled and complained. But then after doing it and seeing how happy the wish kids and their families were I actually wanted to do it. I love seeing the happy kids so much that this year I also decided to become a wish granter. It also helps me to appreciate what I have and to "pay it forward".
So what did you do to celebrate Mother's Day? Do you have any fun or unique ways to celebrate? Whatever you did, I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!
