Happy New Year 2017!!
Wow, can’t believe it’s already 2017! 2016 went by so quickly! It was another amazing year thanks to all of our couples and vendors, and especially thanks to my associate planners and assistants.
Our business increased quite a bit in 2016. Between the three of us (me, Katie, and Casey) we planned and coordinated over 40 weddings. We worked with couples from all over the US this past year. In addition to our local PA couples, we had couples living in CA, FL, TX, NY, Washington DC, VA, and more. We even worked with one couple living in Italy (we offered to come over there to plan the wedding…but they chose Lancaster since that’s where the bride is from)! We love that the Central PA area has become a great destination wedding location.
In 2016 we continued to see a good number of private residence weddings. We always love them because they are so personal to our couples. And of course we continued to work at the many fantastic wedding venues in Central PA.
For 2017 we have two destination weddings booked. Both are in MD but it is still a destination!
Flowers were a big part of our weddings in 2016. We’re talking hanging flowers, lots of greenery table runners, luscious bouquets, tall centerpieces, and more. 2017 is looking about the same with flowers.
We saw a lot of neutral color palettes, including blush pinks and golds. We’ll continue to see that in 2017, but are also starting to see brighter and bolder colors coming back. I love Pantone's 2017 Color of the Year and hope to see that in some of our weddings.
We planned and coordinated a lot of barn weddings in 2016. And by barn we're not talking a rustic, country barn. We mean nice, chic, air conditioned barns with gorgeous chandeliers! That’s still hot for 2017!
In 2016 we had a lot of couples “DIY” their decorations and then had us execute their designs on their wedding days. Some of our couples really put a lot of hard work into their decor. We love their personal touches.
Farm to table food was, and still is, big at weddings. Locally grown and fresh (rather than frozen food) is always popular. And speaking of farm and food...farmhouse tables were very popular!
We saw hashtags at almost every wedding we planned and coordinated this year. It's a great way for the guests to share photos they take! Our couples like seeing all the fun their guests have!
Once again we saw a lot of live musicians, both at wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions. One of our weddings even had a Sitar player at cocktail hour!
We worked with a lot of the same vendors this past year but also worked with a number of vendors we hadn’t worked with in the past. We look forward to continuing to grow our relationships with both existing and new vendors.
Self uniting ceremonies were popular this year. If you're not familiar with what that is then check out this blog we recently posted.
We planned several (self proclaimed) "geeky" weddings this year and already have one on the books for this year. So fun to see their unique touches!
For the fifth year in a row we won The Knot Best Of for Wedding Planners and for the seventh year Wedding Wire's Couples' Choice Award! Thank you to all of our past couples for the great reviews which have led to this!
We hope you all had a fantastic 2016 and continue to have a great 2017. We look forward to working with all our couples and vendors!
